What Are The Benefits Of Using Bio Insecticides?

Posted by Admin on December, 20, 2019

Usually recommended to control the insects that feed on crops, Bio-insecticides are the organic formulations containing live microorganisms like bacteria or fungi that produce toxins which cause stomach poison in the insects and kill them.

Due to the unplanned and overuse of chemical pesticides, the resistance power of plant pathogens increased several folds with the course of time. Many generic chemical pesticides became longer in use due to this reason.

Bio-insecticides are the appropriate remedies where the cultivators were not able to manage the insects in spite of utilizing heavy doses of chemical pesticides. The bio-insecticides are very effective in curing the plant and soil of disease-causing pathogens. Different from chemical pesticides, bio-insecticides give long-lasting protection to the crop and soil.

As the common consumer became aware of the dangers posed by chemical insecticides, there is an immense demand for farm products that have undergone organic treatments.

Based on the type of insects, insecticides come in many forms. They are basically made from natural materials that may include animals, plants, bacteria, or minerals.

Types of Bio-Insecticides:

There are three main categories of Bio-insecticides are-

1. Biochemical pesticides- This type of bio-insecticides uses materials that are found in nature. Biochemical pesticides are beneficial in controlling pests through non-toxic mechanisms.

2. Microbial pesticides: This type of bio-insecticides uses microorganisms as an active ingredient. The microorganisms are common bacteria or fungi but can also be protozoa, oomycetes or viruses.

3. Plant-Incorporated Protectants: Plants can be given genes that enable the plant’s bodies to make substances to fight insects and pests. These self-made insecticides are called plant-incorporated protectants (PIPs).

Bio-insecticides can control insects by attracting them to traps, disturbing their mating patterns, or being sprayed on the crop or plants as a pest repellant.

Advantages Of Using Bio-insecticides:

• They Do Not Affect Non-target Species: When an insecticide is used to control a specific pest or insect, this pest or insect is referred to as the target species. Bio-insecticides usually fight their targeted pests while chemical insecticides often affect non-target species which include; other insects, birds, and mammals. Typically, conventional pesticides are used to kill insects or pests rather than control them. In contrast, most bio-insecticides are applied as a pest management approach that facilitates the steady control of an insect pest over time. Pest control is usually done through indirect mechanisms instead of killing the insect directly.

• They Can Control Pollution: Due to the harmful ingredients contained in the conventional insecticides, their pollution levels are extremely high and they cause severe and many times fatal effects on the environment. These adverse effects can be experienced from the production of the crop to the consumption of the products. Bio-insecticides are often effective at low doses, and they decompose very quickly. As they pose fewer safety risks, bio-insecticides are often approved for use instead of conventional pesticides.

• They Are Cost-Effective: Most bio-insecticides are produced or occur naturally which reduces the production cost and is available at relatively cheaper prices as compared to chemical insecticides whose manufacturing cost is high. For purchasing the best quality bio-insecticides at an affordable rate, you need to count on a reliable bio- insecticide supplier or bio insecticide exporter in India.
